You do not necessarily have to use THE CLAM only to replace a rusty and weak Closet Flange Ring, THE CLAM can also be used if your bathroom floor around your Toilet is weak or deteriorated and is in need of replacement. For the do it yourself home owner, we have compiled this guide to assist you in the installation of THE CLAM. These instructions start from the point where your Toilet has already been drained and removed exposing the Closet Flange.
Here we go!

Remove all screws that are securing the Closet Flange Ring to the floor. Using the Screwdriver start prying up the Flange Ring off of the floor, the Ring has a lip that extends into a slot on the plastic Flange Base, the idea here is to pry up on the outside enough to pull that lip away from the Flange without breaking the plastic, if the ring breaks away leaving the lip inside the Flange Slot, a very thin bladed Screwdriver could probably be used to break the lip away from the Flange, since this is rusty and relatively weak the old Flange Ring removal should not be too difficult.

At this point, if your floor is in need of replacement, this would be a very good time to perform any necessary repairs after the Flange's Steel Ring has been removed, the plastic Flange Body itself does not need to be removed. The floor area that is needed to be replaced may have a hole just large enough to slip over the outside diameter of the Flange Body, that will be enough floor material to securely fasten THE CLAM. Replacement Ring to the new flooring.

This is a picture of the Flange with the Old Steel Ring totally removed. Also at this time check the slot around the entire circumference of the Flange to make certain that all of the old ring has been removed. Once that it has been verified that the Flange slot is clear of the old ring then it is ready for installation of THE CLAM.

To install THE CLAM first remove one of the Screws holding the two halves together than loosen the other screw slightly to open it.

This is a side view of the Flange Body showing the Receiver Slot where the lip of THE CLAM needs to be inserted into The Flange Body.

Insert the lip of one half of THE CLAM into the slot on the Flange as shown in the photo.

Then while holding the positioned half, close the other half of THE CLAM so the other half's lip also seats into the slot of the Flange.

Replace the screw removed previously to prevent the two halves from separating but do not fully tighten them just yet, The replacement ring should be able to rotate for correct positioning.

This picture shows THE CLAM with both halves fully around the Toilet Flange

Insert 2 Closet Bolts into the narrow slot area of THE CLAM, rotate the ring so the bolts are parallel with the wall and using a tape measure or yardstick, measure the distance from the wall to both of the Closet Bolts, make sure both bolts are fully inserted into the slots when measuring, rotate if necessary make sure the distance is equal from the wall to both Bolts, once both measurements are exact you may remove the Closet bolts. Then tighten both Screws of THE CLAM to lock the halves securely together.

If all goes well this is how THE CLAM Toilet Flange Replacement Ring should look with both halves securely locked together with the screws.

Lastly the Screws that hold the Ring to the floor need to be reinstalled, you do not need to use all of the holes on the ring to attach it to the floor but at least use 4 of them in the holes surrounding the Toilet Mounting Bolt Slots for the best possible strength for remounting the Toilet.
