The painted steel mounting ring of a normal Closet Flange is specifically designed to hold the Flange and it's supported plumbing to the floor and provide a safe, leak proof, and stable mounting for the Toilet to bolt to.

          In a new home or remodeling installation, this ring can last for many years, but sadly over a very long period of time the steel ring will eventually rust out and lose it's strength, as homes get older and older this problem will eventually become more and more common. The result is the Toilet may become unstable or leak from movement and can eventually rot out a wooden floor to the point that replacement of the floor is a necessity. 

          Even if caught before any damage occurs, when the steel ring rusts out, generally the Flange assembly would have to be cut out and possibly damaging the drain line connecting to it, also the floor may have to be cut out around the area to make ample room for replacing the Flange and any other drain piping. This can be a very inconvenient, time consuming, and expensive project, all over a thin piece of steel that has served you for years and years but has come to the end of it's useful life.

          Thanks to the ingenuity of a Plumber with over 40 years of experience in the field, we offer an alternative solution for replacing an old rusty steel Flange Ring, THE CLAM. The Clam is a 2 piece replacement Flange Ring manufactured from rust resistant 409 Stainless Steel. The 2 piece design looks very similar to the steel rings used on most common Toilet Flanges, a lip on the inside of The Clam is designed to fit inside the groove of most PVC or ABS Plastic Toilet Flanges where the old steel ring was originally. If the floor is solid and in good condition it will not have to be replaced, the installer simply removes the old rusty ring from the Flange and replaces it with THE CLAM. 

  Once installed and attached to the floor the Toilet can be safely and securely remounted, and because of The Clam's Stainless Steel construction, the ring if properly installed on a solid base will be stronger than the Steel Ring it replaced. The benefits are greatly reduced costs for the homeowner, as well as time savings for the Plumbing Contractor. 

What normally can be an all day project or even longer, can cut the job time down drastically to about an hour or two.
